Story behind the song
Conceived 1993 This is Take 13 Mix 7 recorded September 2013 Sonar X1 Now Funk is usually supposed to be just 1 or 2 chords, but not Funk the way I do it here!! SEVEN different chords! And we be talking stuff like a D13; F#m11; AND what is either an Eb (D#?) b13th, OR an E maj/min 7th. Think this horn arrangement is bleating? You should've heard some of the previous takes! We're talking Chicago meets the Stanford Marching band on a VERY BAD day! I actually had a variation of the Main Rhythm Guitar Chord progression that I had come up with in a alternate tuning, years & years ago long before I got my first multitrack, let alone come up with the arrangement for it! Between the last 5 takes of this & this take combined, I went thru about 50 B & high E strings, an inevitable result of doing over & over (to the point of lunatic obsession until I got them JUST right!!) the trem picking & sustained bending parts of the lead guitars!!
